City Pillar Shrine was built in 1782 B.E. during the reign of King Rama I.  to have a royal ceremony to raise the city pillar  It is a pillar of Chaiyapruek with sandalwood heartwood on the outside.  the top of the lotus-shaped pillar  On Sunday, April 21, 1782, at Chai Pride in the middle of the new city that the King named  "Krung Rattanakosin In Ayothaya" or known to each other as  "Bangkok" Sathitsathaphon is the mascot of Thai people.  until the reign of King Mongkut  to establish a new city pillar to replace the old one that has been damaged over time  It is a pillar of teak wood as the core inside with Chaiyapruek wood top grain shape.  and re-established the eyes of Bangkok  for the nation and all Thai people  under the majesty of the majesty of Thailand

  In the year 1982, His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej  Maha Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great presided over at the City Pillar Shrine for the 200th Anniversary Celebration of Rattanakosin for the auspiciousness of the city according to ancient royal traditions.  and was graciously pleased  to have an action to improve the City Pillar Shrine to be completely beautiful and be the dwelling place of the City Pillar Shrine  and invite the original city pillar to be enshrined together with the present city pillar  When the restoration is complete  His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej  Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn performed the royal ceremony on Thursday, July 24, 1986.
